Not all laws affect everyone. But, there are laws in our home state of Florida that specifically affect CPA firms. Effective January 1, 2015, all firms performing audits or engagements under the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAEs) that are not compilations or reviews are required to enroll and undergo a peer review in 2016. Newman, Seland & Oppenheimer, LLC is the firm dedicated to providing the most cost-effective, efficient and value-added service available. As fellow CPAs, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves. We have been practicing in Florida for over 30 years, first in the larger Big 4 environment and, for the last 25 years, as owners of smaller local practices. Kurt Seland began performing peer reviews of other CPA firms in the mid-1980s and has performed more than 100 peer reviews for firms similar to yours. These firms have benefited from both the peer review process and our assistance with best practice ideas. Don Hulslander is a team captain and also performs both engagement and system peer reviews. Both have or are serving on FICPA committees, including the peer review and the accounting principles and auditing standards committees. Carefully selecting your reviewer is critical to receive the full benefit of your review. For maximum efficiency and insight, you ideally want to match your reviewer’s experience to your firm’s experience. At Newman, Seland & Oppenheimer, LLC, we perform audits in many industries, including Yellow Book and Employee Benefit Plan audits. Our goal is to provide our clients with an efficient and cost-effective peer review that enhances your firm's quality control and overall audit practice success. We provide the following peer review services:
